IAHD Dive Partner (I_DP)
As a rescue diver you have learned to understand the dangers that
can arise during diving and how you can most efficiently prevent and solve them. You have also acquired a great deal of medical knowledge and great practical skills in observing, preventing and rescuing people in and around the
water.
Guiding and diving with people with a mental and/or physical limitation, however, is another chapter in its own right. Not only will you usually be guiding this person underwater with several divers at the same time, but you will also need to know more about the 'psyche' (the state of mind, the inner feeling) of a diver with a limitation.
You will often also encounter medical terms related to the condition of this diver with a limitation.
During the IAHD Dive Partner course you will learn to gain insight into how best to deal with a diver with a limitation above water and underwater. You will not only gain more medical knowledge, but you will also gain great practical skills
in the various ways in which you can guide a diver with a limitation, with 1 or with several people, under water. Of course, dealing with the family and non-diving companions of a diver with a limitation is also not forgotten.
